Advanced Nurse Practitioner Services

Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANP) are medical professionals who have undertaken considerable training and act as the triage service for the GPs. They are able to prescribe medications, diagnose, treat and refer. The ANPs carry out house visits for the practice.

The Practice Nurse carries these out. Patients will be invited by letter.

Child Development and Assessment

Your baby’s six week check will be carried out in two parts. The Health Visitor will visit you at home and you should make an appointment with the doctor for the second part of this check.

This will be your baby’s last routine physical examination so it is important that you make an appointment at the surgery.

Childhood Vaccinations

There is a central child immunisation clinic held at Port Glasgow Health Centre. These clinics are by appointment only and will be appointed by the Health Board. If you have to re-schedule an appointment, you should telephone the number on your letter as early as possible.

Direct Access Services

Did you know you can telephone directly, download or ask at reception for a referral form for the services below

  • MSK Physiotherapy (musculoskeletal) for patients over 14 years old.

  • Under 14 year olds Childrens Physiotherapy. Drop In Clinic at Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Level L, last Thursday of every month. 1pm to 4pm. (No appointment or referral needed, just go along) They can help with balance problems, walking difficulties, ongoing aches and pains and injuries.

  • Speech and Language Childrens Service. Call 01475 506150 between 12.30pm and 4pm every Wednesday

  • Podiatry. Call Referral Management Centre on 0141 347 8909. Telephone Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 9am to 1pm

  • Mental Health. Crown House, Greenock 01475 558000

District Nurses

A District Nurse is a qualified nurse who has taken further training to enable her to work in the community. The team is responsible for assessing, planning and delivering skilled care to patients in their own homes as well as providing support for their Carers. They work closely with the GPs and other members of staff.

The District Nursing Team are based at Port Glasgow Health Centre and may be contacted by telephoning 01475 50609.

If you require a District Nurse between the hours of 5.30pm and 10pm, please contact the Twilight Services on 01475 720995. These services will advise you who to contact next if you require overnight service.

Health Visitors

Our Health Visitors are responsible for the promotion of good health in children under the age of five and their and their families. Services provided include; routine surveillance of child development, weight, childhood immunisation, helping new parents with feeding difficulties, weaning, behaviour, etc.

For Patients Registered at Kilmacolm

The Health Visitors operate from Port Glasgow Health Centre and may be contacted by telephoning 01475 506001.

For Patients Registered at Langbank

The Health Visitor operates from Bishopton Health Centre and may be contacted by telephoning 01505 821719.

Well Baby Clinic

A Well Baby Clinic is held at Bishopton Health Centre. Please telephone the Health Visitor to confirm dates for these clinics and to book your appointment.

Pharmacy Services

We have a Practice Pharmacist working at our two sites and dealing with requests for acute prescriptions, hospital discharge letters, audits, poly pharmacy medication reviews and medication switches.

The Pharmacy team may invite you in for an inhaler review, how to work diabetes devices, or for a review of your medication.
